Labor is a compulsory part of life for most artists, who need their day jobs in order to support their art-making. But the workplace can also be a rich backdrop for literature. In this workshop, we’ll explore how to weave our own experiences of work into our writing by examining power, agency, and the intrigue of routine. While writers of all genres and experience levels are welcome, this workshop will be geared toward fiction writing.

Kyle Lucia Wu is the author of Win Me Something (Tin House Books, 2021) which Vogue called "a carefully observed and subtly devastating mediation on the often porous lines between work and real life." She is also the co-author with Cathy Linh Che of the children's book An Asian American A to Z: A Children's Guide to our History (Haymarket Books, 2023). Kyle is a Visiting Assistant Professor at Pratt Institute and a lecturer at the New School.
